Womad weather July 24, 2007
Zoozoo2 are off to the Womad World Music Festival tomorrow, so if your going drop by and see us. I hope the weather holds.
According to WOMAD the Charlton Park festival this weekend is definitely going ahead!
‘The festival will be going ahead this weekend as planned. The site has not been affected by flooding as it has a clay soil on limestone brash and is on high ground, allowing efficient drainage. The ground, including the camping and parking areas, is still solid. There is trackway for all the main routes of the festival site.’
According to the Womad website ‘access to the site is also unaffected by the heavy rain and floods, but if you are driving to the festival, we would recommend that you check your route before leaving in case you need to bypass flooded areas in other parts of the country. Similarly, if you are travelling by train or coach, please contact National Rail or National Express for updates.’
Charlton Park, with its stunning setting in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside, is the new home for the WOMAD Festival for its 25th anniversary year. Set in a picturesque rural landscape, WOMAD at Charlton Park presents an opportunity to experience the festival in a truly green, pleasant and spacious environment. The festival will feature seven stages and workshop areas, including a children’s village, many new activities and festival features, all in the idyllic environment of Charlton’s arboretum, open lawns and rolling fields.
WOMAD Charlton Park will welcome an audience of 20,000, together with over seventy world-class artists from forty different countries. Each and every musical experience at the festival will be offered in its own special space – from main stage and high profile, to intimate and troubadour acoustic, our aim is to respond creatively to our new environment, engaging with the beautiful character of the place.
