snowboarding safety

Here are just a few snowboarding safety tips but they may help.

  • Get some proper training
  • beginners should take lessons to learn the correct riding and falling techniques
  • Don't overestimate your ability - practice, practice, practice.
  • Don't try manoeuvres beyond your abilities
  • Wear protective equipment, that means a helmet designed for snowboarding plus kneepads and wrist supports
  • Get in some pre-season conditioning and training
  • Warm up before going on the slopes
  • Wear layers
  • Never go on the slopes alone
  • Don't ride in poor conditions
  • Always take note of the general snow conduct and safety codes
  • Never drink alcohol before going on the slopes
  • Choose the right equipment to suit you and your level of skill
  • Keep equipment in good working order
  • Watch those trees
  • Protect the wrists. wrist injuries are the most common in snowboarding so wear wrist guards made for snowboarding. It's not a good idea to try and break your fall with your open hands. Keep your hands closed in a fist there is then less bits stickinmg out to break.
  • Protect the head. The most common head injuries I think are to the back of the head. Remember that snow is hard. The best idea is to wear a helmet.
