Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 10 April, 2007 :   On the weekend of the 14th and 15th of April 2007, there is an event happening on the South Coast in Woolacombe that is not to be missed! Come and see Britain’s young surfers compete for the coveted British Schools title.

Conditions look promising with 3-4ft clean waves expected over another weekend of stunning weather. Over 120 children aged between 12 - 18 have already entered from 35 schools across the South West, England, Wales and The Channel Islands and they’ll all be looking to topple last year’s winners, locals Braunton, from their spot.

This inter-school competition run by the British Surfi ng Association attracted more than 150 young surfers last year; it is the only title of its kind currently in Britain where you get to compete for the pride of your school. The competition is open to guys and girls, surfers and bodyboarders alike, everyone is invited to join the fun!  With 8 different competitions to get involved in there is something for everyone who loves to ride the waves.

Competition categories include

• 1 surf comp for girls aged 18
• 1 bodyboard comp for girls aged 18
• 1 longboard comp for those over 18
• 3 surf comps for guys aged 14, 16 and 18
• 2 bodyboard comps for guys aged 16 and 18

Each school can register a maximum of 2 teams of students consisting of 4 members, each team must include at least one bodyboarder or one girl and a surfer. We invite all schools to come on down and take part all you have to do is become a member of the British Surfi ng Association (BSA) and register to compete on britsurf.co.uk. Come and join Billabong for a weekend of surf, sun and fun!
